The other day I visited www.garageband.com for the first time. I’ve been in bands before, so I was very interested in the concept of having unsigned bands be rated by the layman. User opinion has always worked for me on www.citysearch.com, www.yelp.com, www.amazon.com, etc, so I thought I’d find some great, unsigned bands that other people were into. Very rarely does music make me want to rip off my headphones, but out of five different songs, I ripped my headphones off four times. The first song was bad, but I gave it a full listen. I thought for sure that the next song would be better. Nope. And with each song, I got more and more annoyed at what I was listening to. It seemed an impossible task to wade through enough awful lyrics and artsy chord progressions before a good song emerged. Garageband, please leave that job to the professionals.
